About Us
We are three women - Janet Ahlberg, Katja von Bahr and Morven Smith - who moved to Uppsala in the early 2000s with our Swedish husbands and young children. Between us, we have moved countries more than 10 times in our adult lives!
Frustrated by difficulties in settling here, Janet and Morven set up an English-speaking playgroup for young families in 2004 in order to meet people in the same situation and to help our kids settle and meet other English-speaking children. The playgroup ran successfully for two years while we studied Swedish.
Every newcomer that we met through the playgroup faced the same problems and sense of isolation while they tackled the hurdles of bureaucracy and the cultural and language differences. We met Katja in 2006 and discovered that in spite of being a native Swede, she had also found her recent move to Uppsala challenging.
And so in 2007 we started up our company Everything in English to expand and develop our activities to support the wider English-speaking community in Uppsala and the surrounding area.
